On the road to sustainability

The transport sector is currently responsible for 25% of the total greenhouse gas emissions in Europe and those emissions have only increased in recent years. Our goal: a climate-neutral continent by 2050. Reducing emissions by 90 % in 2050 will require ambitious interventions in the transport sector. Electric mobility is at the heart of this strategy to enter zero-emission zones.

TenT network

In 1990, the European Commission approved an initial plan of action for high-speed railway lines. The European Parliament and the Council then adopted a decision to establish the guidelines for the development of the Trans-European transport network (Ten-T) in 1996. The Ten-T network forms part of a wider system of Trans-European Networks (TENs). The objective of these TENs should be to accelerate the rollout of infrastructure for alternative fuels, including e-Mobility. In the process, the charging infrastructure and efficient integration of electric vehicles in the electricity system is also being looked at.

The various charging hubs

The need is there, the technology is there and the transport sector is keen to become more sustainable. But the infrastructure needs to be reliable and clear. Entent is going to roll out a Europe-wide charging network to help make the transport sector more sustainable. In the process, Entent and its hubs will focus on making life easier for carriers by offering high charging outputs, spacious charging locations and reserved spaces.

European coverage

Collaboration with powerful grid connections would mean that 90% of the TEN-T network would be covered. Entent’s European charging netwerk will provide approximately 220 charging hubs with over 1,700 charging points.

The various charging hubs

The Entent charging network is optimally set up for professional use and consists of various locations spread across Europe. The locations are strategically positioned next to motorways, major business parks and in and around major cities.

Technology

The technical specifications of the charging points that Entent makes use of can be described as having the following three characteristics: high output, extremely reliable and scalable. These three characteristics are found in three different brands of charging points, namely...

The transport sector must reduce its emissions. They cannot do this themselves with the current problems on the electricity grid. Entent is determined to achieve its goal for a European charging network. By optimizing the large energy connections, a comprehensive charging network can be quickly rolled out.

Entent wants to partner with companies where their energy connection is of enormous value. Political opinion is changing regarding the failure to make optimal use of an energy connection. Due to grid congestion, the government is forced to take measures. Reclaiming part of the capacity or imposing a temporary peak can be implemented for companies in the future. As a result, companies can be disappointed because there are no growth opportunities. Entent can offer a flow compensation for the connection. For this, Entent needs parking spaces on the site and a connection to the current energy connection. Our shared goal should be to provide a European charging network to the transport sector to help it become more sustainable.
